Story
This year I am running for my good friend Laura - who has made me run 10km instead of 5km, but she's worth it!
Laura was recently diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene mutation. Today, a woman's lifetime risk of breast cancer is 10%. For women with the BRCA2 mutation, this risk increases to 50% - 80%.
1 in 10 women........ 8 in 10 women....... these are both staggeringly high numbers.
I'm taking part in the Sussan Women's Fun Run 2011 and raising much needed funds for the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). Every day, 38 women will be told they have breast cancer and 8 women will be lost to the disease. Your money will go towards providing newly diagnosed women with quality information and support.
